The following is a partial list of Sumner Police Department activity from June 27 to July 2:

July 2

Fireworks violation

Police were dispatched to Wright Avenue and 54th Street where juveniles were observed shooting off illegal fireworks. One subject was observed shooting fireworks at another’s back. The charges were forwarded to Remann Hall.

July 1

Dangerous fireworks

An officer spotted two vehicles driving back and forth in the industrial area in the dark without headlights and pulled both vehicles over in the 2100 block of 140th Avenue. While doing so, there was a flash and a boom from where the vehicles had been. The officer ordered all individuals out of the vehicles and asked what was going on. The individuals confessed to making and lighting a “sparkler bomb” and were cited.

Abandoned vehicle

Officers noticed a boat and trailer with all identification removed by the side of the road in the 5800 block of Sumner Tapps Highway. The boat had been tagged by Pierce County June 26 and was towed and impounded.

Burglary

Police were dispatched to the 15800 block of 56th Street for a report of a forced entry burglary to a residence. The front door of the residence was forced open, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

June 30

Trespassing

An individual was located in a park in the 5600 block of Graham Avenue and was trespassed and charged with other violations.

Fireworks

Police confiscated fireworks from a subject in the 1100 block of Maple Street.

Hit and Run

Police are investigating a hit and run accident in the 6200 block of Parker Road where a vehicle hit a utility line.

Theft

Officers were called to the 800 block of Maple Street for a report of a stolen vehicle.

June 29

Guns, drugs and money

Police spotted in the 15700 block of Main Street an individual suspected of taking money from a relative and was pulled over. Earlier in the day, police responded to a call in the 1300 block of Maple Street for the report of two jars of money being stolen. The individual confessed to taking the money. Police did a search for the vehicle and also discovered a gun that had been reported missing. The driver was also a convicted felon and not legally allowed to possess the gun. Additionally, a narcotics dog from the Buckley Police Department found marijuana and pills in the vehicle’s fuse box.

Found

Wilkerson Police discovered and returned a vehicle stolen in Sumner.

Recovered

Sumner police discovered on the 13000 block of Willow Street a vehicle stolen from another jurisdiction.

June 27

Burglary/vandalism

Police are investigating a non-residential burglary that occurred in the 3100 block of 142nd Avenue. An individual arrived at the building, which is under construction, and found the drywall had been damaged.

Fraud?

Officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Park Road where an individual claimed his daughter was in charge of his finances and now his bank account is overdrawn and his daughter is missing. The daughter later called police to report that she was never in charge of her father’s finances and would talk to him to find out what is going on.
