Fire damages Marysville garage

MARYSVILLE — Marysville Fire District personnel responded Dec. 17, at approximately 5:10 p.m., to a garage fire in the 9500 block of 66th Drive NE.

Kristen Thorstenson, Marysville Fire District Public Education Specialist/Public Information Officer, reported that the first crew arrived to find flames coming from the back of an attached garage. The flames were quickly contained and extinguished, and the fire was contained to the garage with some smoke damage to the house.

The fire displaced a family of three.

The Marysville Fire District was assisted by Granite Falls Fire. The County Fire Marshal ruled the cause as careless use of smoking materials which resulted in an estimated $65,000 loss.
