Marysville fire displaces family of four

MARYSVILLE — At approximately 4:05 a.m. on Dec. 26, Marysville Fire District was dispatched to a residential fire. According to the report, the attached garage was on fire and the occupants of the home were evacuating. Crews arrived to find light smoke showing from the garage and eves of the two-story wood-frame home. Crews extinguished the fire before it had an opportunity to spread to other parts of the home.
The family of four was displaced. Marysville Fire District Foundation and Red Cross are assisting the residents with temporary housing. A cat was rescued from a bedroom in the home by Firefighter/Paramedic Dan Schwartz.
No one was transported for injuries.
A ladder truck, three engine companies, two tenders, four aid/medic units, along with a Battalion Chief, Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer all responded from Marysville Fire District, Getchell Fire and Lake Stevens Fire.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating. Preliminary reports point to smoking materials as the cause. Estimated loss is $80,000 for the structure and contents.
