Chamber sets events

MARYSVILLE — The last week in October and the first week in November of this year mark a first for the Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce, since it’s the first time in 24 years that Chamber President and CEO Caldie Rogers can remember conducting two Business After Hours meetings in two consecutive weeks.

“The Marysville business community has really stepped up during these challenging economic times to take advantage of promotional opportunities,” Rogers said. “We normally counsel scheduling these meetings a month apart, but with the holidays pending, these agencies are focused on capturing audiences.”

The Pacific Rim Supper Club and Ballroom, located at 3228 Marine Dr. in Tulalip, hosted the first Business After Hours Oct. 28. Owner Cindy Langmas added that Pacific Rim is also hosting a “Marysville Idol” karaoke contest every Friday night, with $2,000 in cash and prizes, as well as early booking discounts for the holidays for their banquet room. Merrill Gardens, located at 9802 48th Dr. NE in Marysville, is hosting the Business After Hours, Nov. 5, from 5-7 p.m., and is also hosting free video portraits for Marysville and Tulalip senior citizens from Nov. 6-8.

“Anyone who has received any notice from AARP is old enough to qualify as a senior citizen for this event,” said Diane Wilson-Simon, owner of White Owl Arts, which is taking the video portraits. “Anyone who is younger than that can still participate if they bring a family member who is a senior.”
