Arlington’s Rayner will become a Bison
Nov 19 2008
Arlington senior Christina Rayner has made a commitment to play softball for the Bisons of North Dakota State University in Fargo.
A pitcher for the Arlington Eagles, Rayner has been named to the all-conference list in each of the past three seasons. She is coached by Dan Eng.
“She’s in her senior year and she’s turned into an exceptional athlete,” Eng said of his Division-I bound ace. “On top of that, she’s got a 4.0 [grade point average]. The school that she’s going to is getting a great athlete and a great student.”
Rayner will be coached by Darren Mueller and is one of two pitchers asked by the Bisons for a commitment.
“She is really excited,” Eng said. “I wish her the best of luck and I couldn’t want more from an athlete that I’ve had for three years.”
Rayner should be back for her senior season this spring as Arlington moves back up to 4A competition.
Students may sign an NCAA National Letter of Intent beginning Nov. 12 to make an early commitment in most sports. The signing period for high school football begins Dec. 17, while soccer, track and cross country athletes may commit beginning Feb. 4. The regular signing period for all other sports begins April 8 except for basketball, which begins a week later.
