Persis the Potter has announced she will be opening her kiln again for her annual Thanksgiving weekend tradition, offering fresh-baked pottery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 29 and 30, and again Dec. 6 and 7. Along with Persis Gayle, there will be hand-crafted wool items by Karen Keith and art by Keith Pace. The studio is located near Grandview, at 9525 N. Cedarvale Loop Rd., northeast of Arlington. Northern Sound Choir offers

three concerts

The 27 girls ages 12-19 of the Northern Sound Girls’ Advanced Choir will perform three concerts in the area this season, offering holiday selections from around the world.

n Dec. 4 at the Smokey Point Community Church, 17721 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.

n Dec. 6 at Merrysville for the Holidays, 5:30 p.m. in Comford Park, after the lighting of the water tower.

n Dec. 17 at the Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp at 6:45 and 8:45 p.m. in Joyland Concert Hall.

“The young ladies have been preparing since September for these performances,” said the director, Stuart Hunt. “And they are now beginning preparation for a three-day concert tour of Vancouver, B.C., performing in stadiums, churches, libraries and schools throughout greater Vancouver. Dance for

the holidays

The Arlington School of Dance will present its annual Christmas performance at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Admission is $7 with kids 5 and under free. For information call 360-435-4541.

DNR closes road

at Spada Lake

Due to a landslide, the South Shore Spada Lake Road in Snohomish County leading to the Boulder Lake Trailhead is indefinitely closed. The road is closed just beyond South Fork Sultan River Bridge, several miles below the trailhead. The recreation facilities, normally accessed via the Boulder/Greider Lake Trailhead, are now only accessible by foot along the road which may contain unmarked hazards. Visitors should exercise caution.
