The road to the Tacoma Dome begins Friday.

No. 1-ranked Bothell High (9-0) is fresh off its 4A Kingco championship victory last week and will take on Stanwood High (4-5) at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Pop Keeney Field in a district seeding game. The state playoffs begin Nov. 13-14 and the championship game will roll around Dec. 5 in Tacoma.

Bothell, which lost last year in the quarterfinals and fell two straight years before that in the title game, is looking good this week in practice despite some of the Cougars getting hit with the flu bug, according to coach Tom Bainter.

"We continue to work hard and are trying to get better every day," Bainter said. "We have reset new goals, now that we have accomplished our goal of winning the Kingco title. Our plan remains the same, get better every day."

With a pair of touchdowns — one rushing and one receiving — Luke Proulx leads the Cougs with 19 TDs and quarterback Mitchell Muller added three more passing TDs to his total of 23. Proulx is fifth in the state with 1,210 yards rushing.

Stanwood retained the coveted Stilly Cup with a 21-14 victory last week over rival Arlington to advance to the postseason. Leading the Spartans on offense are quarterback Michael McCune and his favorite receivers Clint Hepper and Kale Schmidt and 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back Brad Gee.
