Police investigate alleged Inglemoor High bomb threat

Nov 23 2009

Kenmore police reports say the first call regarding a supposed bomb threat against Inglemoor High in Kenmore reportedly came from a caller in Texas.

Reports say police received notice of the call from school officials Nov. 16. Again according to police reports, officers went to the school and determined the call actually came from what appeared to be a Seattle business. Police called the number, reporting the answering voice-mail message did not sound like it belonged to a business. They left a message, identifying themselves as police and asking for a return call. Sometime later they got one, allegedly from an Inglemoor student.

The student later told police, and presumably school officials, that on Nov. 13 he overheard two male students mention something about a bomb and “Monday.” He also told police he did not know the students and was not sure he could identify them.

The reporting student, who was not named in reports, said he contacted a text-message service in Seattle that allows persons to ask questions and receive answers. The service was not identified in police reports. The student apparently asked the service what he should do about the possible threat. After a few exchanged text messages, it was apparently the service that notified school officials.

According to police, the student said he did not immediately notify anyone of the possible threat against the school out of fear and confusion. Inglemoor apparently was never evacuated and police reports do not say whether or not the school was searched.

Police did note their report was for informational purposes only. There apparently is no ongoing investigation. A school-district spokesperson did not return a phone call.
