Bothell’s RiverFest offers an array of activities Aug. 24

As summertime comes to a close, the city of Bothell opens its doors with a host of RiverFest activities.

From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24, there will be a diverse mix of bikes, cars, music, pies, kids’ stuff and more.

“RiverFest is a great event because it celebrates what Bothell’s about: heritage and a sense of community,” said Joyce Goedeke, Bothell public-information officer. “It’s a great way to send off the summertime and a fun way to enter into the crazy season with school starting.”

The eighth annual RiverFest: “Family Fun and Then Some” will begin with the Bothell Ski and Bike Summits of Bothell: One S.O.B. of a Bike Ride. This 38-mile ride takes cyclists on the eight hills in Bothell.

Over the course of the day, there will be a City of Bothell Show and Tell — a city and local resource fair, plus city vehicles on display; Kiwanis of Northshore Car Show; Hobby and Volunteer Expo; children’s activities and street entertainment; inflatable amusements for kids; a pie-eating contest; KBSG Prize Wheel and Seahawks Sea Gals; a Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce Craft and Merchants Market; and music from the Afrodisiacs and Spazmatics.

The Show and Tell portion of RiverFest gives city staff members a chance to shine.

“The city of Bothell gets to show off our work, which is so rare. Our staff works very hard 24/7 to ensure our citizens have the public services they need and expect, and we ensure that public service is the highest quality possible,” Goedeke said.

RiverFest will take place between Main and Northeast 185th streets, and Goedeke says the event always draws a big crowd.

“We still see new visitors every year, and the repeat customers, which we love,” she said.
