CMC ICOS Biologics begins major expansion
Jul 30 2008
CMC ICOS Biologics of Bothell, dedicated to contract development and manufacturing for the biotechnology sector, recently announced the opening of its remodeled manufacturing facility to accommodate the growing demand from its clients for commercial production.
CMC ICOS Biologics’ remodel and infrastructure addition to its existing 15,000-square-foot facility can accommodate the commercial manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals under current “good manufacturing practices” required by government agencies. The expansion of the operations also adds approximately 35 new positions to its existing employee base of 135 full-time employees and includes a multi-million-dollar investment in facilities and equipment.
“Starting operations in our remodeled facility is a significant milestone toward commercial world-class manufacturing activities in Bothell,” said CMC ICOS Biologics President Gustavo Mahler.
CMC ICOS Biologics began as the development and biologics manufacturing operation at ICOS Corp. After Eli Lilly & Company purchased ICOS, the operation was sold to CMC Biopharmaceuticals A/S in December 2007.
