About Us

In recent years, the once predominantly bedroom communities of Bothell and Kenmore have seen the growth of an economic core centered around biotechnology, computer technology, telecommunications and durable goods. Bothell is home to the University of Washington campus and Cascadia Community College. Kenmore hosts one of the last industrial ports on the northern shore of Lake Washington.

Andy Nystrom lives in Seattle and has worked for the Bothell-Kenmore Reporter since its inception in 2002. Previously to serving as editor, he wrote sports and business stories for the Reporter and its predecessor, the Northshore Citizen. He is a San Jose State University graduate and has worked in the journalism field for 17 years.

Tim Watanabe
Tim Watanabe graduated from the University of Washington in 2007 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. He was introduced to the company through UW News Lab in April 2007 and later interned as a general-assignment reporter at the Eastside Reporter newspapers (Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell/Kenmore and Bellevue) for four months during the late spring and summer before leaving to finish school in the fall. Tim accomplished one of his lifelong dreams by appearing as a contestant and winning on Wheel of Fortune in 2004. In his spare time, he enjoys bowling, racquet sports, watching game shows of all types, and he is also fascinated by African lions. Tim currently lives in the Kingsgate area of Kirkland and has been employed at Kenmore Lanes & Casino since 2002.

Joshua Adam Hicks lives in Seattle and is a 2002 graduate of Albion College in Michigan. He completed internships with Seattle Business Monthly and Northwest Meetings and Events while working as a sports clerk for the Everett Herald before joining the Bothell-Kenmore Reporter staff in April 2006. He also published freelance work in the Seattle Times and with Enterprise Newspapers.
