Truck hits house in Pacific
A pickup truck hit a house in the 300 block of 3rd Avenue Southeast in Pacific so hard early Wednesday morning no one can live in it.
According to Pacific Police, the department recieved a report about 1:45 a.m. that an older model Dodge pickup had struck a house. According to police, the truck had been traveling westbound on 3rd Avenue Southeast when it hit a mail box on the north side of the road, veered across the road, ran over the sidewalk and smacked into the house.
By the time officers responded, the two occupants of the vehicle had already fled on foot. Police set up a perimeter, and an Auburn Police Department K9 unit tried to track the suspects, but without success. After an extensive search for the suspects – according to police, two white males – turned up nothing, the search was called off.
The vehicle struck the northwest corner and knocked the brick chimney from its foundation, causing extensive damage. The collision also ruptured a gas line. The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded and shut off the gas line until Puget Sound Energy workers could permanently shut it down.
One person was sleeping in the house at the time of the accident but was uninjured.
