Bonney Lake resident and top-ranked U.S. Olympic weightlifter Melanie Roach had a pep rally thrown in her honor Monday afternoon. The hastily assembled rally included appearances from several local officials and as an added bonus, NBC's Today Show was on hand to capture the action.

Roach arrived at the rally via police motorcade and was introduced at the rally by Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson.

After addressing her supporters and thanking her family in her quest for an Olympic gold medal, Roach signed autographs for those in attendance.
