Several chances to get flu shots beginning Oct. 30

The San Juan County Health and Community Services Department has scheduled flu vaccination clinics on Lopez, Shaw, Orcas, Waldron and San Juan islands beginning the end of October.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control have designated the target groups to receive flu vaccinations to include:

— Children ages 6 months to 5 years.

— Pregnant women.

— Individuals with chronic illness.

— Healthcare workers.

— All adults over the age of 50.

— Anyone who wants to reduce their risk of flu this season.

The shots will cost $28 each, payable by check or cash. County health workers will accept and process Medicare Part B and Medicaid insurance payments for the shots.

The following clinics are scheduled.

— Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lopez Island Woodmen Hall.

— Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to noon, Shaw Community Building.

— Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to noon, Waldron School.

— Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mullis Community Senior Center, Friday Harbor.

— Nov. 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Orcas Senior Center.

— Nov. 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Eastsound Fire Station.
