A fight at a Freeland home last week between five men left some of the combatants injured with knife wounds and others with cuts and bruises.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, four men entered the home of a 27-year-old man living off Fish Road and demanded money and tools, Island County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

The four then began fighting with the resident.

“The initial report indicated that the fight involved several adult males and that a stabbing might have occurred,” said Undersheriff Kelly Mauck. “After deputies arrived, we located the 27-year-old occupant of the house, who was bleeding from a head wound.”

The four men did not have permission to be in the home, Mauck said.

“It’s believed that one of the men was stabbed with a knife during the fight,” he said.

“Identities of the four men were given to deputies by the victim and the detectives have since located and interviewed all four of the men who’d come to the home,” he said.

They included a 35-year-old Freeland man and a 42-year-old Clinton man, who both had knife injuries. The other two included a 25-year-old Freeland man and another 42-year-old Clinton man.

“The case is under investigation,” Mauck said. “I don’t know that the wounds were stabbings. They could have been cuts. All subjects are cooperating with the investigation at this time and there is potential for arrests to be made.”
