Mirror staff reports:

Thomas Jefferson High School has been placed in an external lockdown due to police activity in the area, according to the Federal Way School District.

Buses are being held in a safe location away from campus. Students arriving to school on foot and by car are being admitted into the building. The district will keep parents updated through the automated call-out system. Updates will also be posted to fwps.org and on the district's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/fwps210.

The Kent Police Department reports that an eight-hour standoff took place into the morning hours of Friday in the 4800 block of South 288th Street. The high school is located in that vicinity. The standoff ended with no arrests after police made entry into the home with a search warrant.
