Kirkland police have closed N.E. 131st Way between 94th Ave. and 90th Ave. due to a motor vehicle accident investigation on Friday.
"The at-fault driver was driving up the hill and the victim was coming down the hill," said Kirkland Police Department spokesperson Audra Weber. "The at-fault driver hit the guardrail and has a head injury."
The windy street goes up a hill with a deep ravine on one side that is blocked by a guardrail. It is a main thoroughfare that connects the Juanita neighborhood with the Finn Hill neighborhood of Kirkland.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Friday.
The at-fault driver was transported to Harborview, while the other driver was attended to by emergency personnel at the scene and was allowed to return home.
"We are just waiting for the traffic investigators to finish their work," said Weber from the scene, where police have blocked the busy arterial. Police say the road will be blocked for several hours.
