Sumner School District names assistant principal for three elementary schools
The Sumner School District has named Andrea Landes as a new assistant principal to be shared among three of the district's elementary schools.
Landes will serve as assistant principal at Victor Falls, Crestwood and Emerald Hills elementary schools.
Landes started her career in the Sumner School District in 2008 working as an elementary librarian at Bonney Lake and Victor Falls elementary schools. She completed an administrative internship at Victor Falls, under the mentorship of Principal Beth Dykman.
This year Landes was named Dean of Students at Victor Falls in addition to her role as a learning specialist. She also stepped forward to serve an additional role as a Teacher Leader in her building.
“Andrea is a valued part of the Sumner School District. She has demonstrated a passion for helping all students achieve and a commitment to doing the right thing for kids and families. A lifelong learner, Andrea has earned several degrees that have contributed to her success and the success of those around her," Superintendent Craig Spencer said in a press release.
According to the release, the appointment reflects the district’s commitment to provide additional staffing and support to schools where student needs are highest, when and where possible.
Landes is a graduate of the University of Washington in 1986 with a BA in Sociology and Elementary Education. She taught in the Northshore School District from 1988 to 1991.
