South claims Narrows League title

May 24 2005

Brittany Miller tossed a complete game 3-hitter Monday, striking out 14 Wilson batters to lead South Kitsap to a 2-0 win the championship game of the Narrows League Tournament.

The win keeps the Wolves perfect on the year, 19-0, and sends them to this weekends West Central District Tournament as the Narrows' No. 1 seed. South will face a yet to be determined opponent at 3 p.m. Friday at Sprinker Field in Tacoma. Win or loss, the Wolves return for a second game at 7 p.m.

Any two wins during the WCD sends South back to the state tournament while two losses ends their season.

Miller had little trouble in picking up her 12th win against no losses. Her 14 strike outs were a season high for the senior righthander.

South got all the runs it needed in the second and third innings as Joy Thomas, who was 3-for-3 in the game, and Chantal Boddie delivered RBI singles.

Miller's defense also helped out as shortstop Stephanie Mott made a great grab to end an inning while Amanda Galla recorded a key out at first on a nice stretch.
