If you don't have facts, just lob insults

Oct 09 2008

Wow.

Where does one start in response to Clifford Kincaid’s Oct. 8 letter (“Washington’s errors minor”).

Mr. Kincaid was doing fine stating why he is supporting Walt Washington for County Auditor, but then he goes off and brands the opposition as “right-wing Republican biased ideological thinking, tactics and special-interest affiliation that afflict so many of the wedge issue radicals...”

I guess branding is the name of the game when one feels that what they have to say won’t convince the public of their own stand on supporting candidates or issues.

I would like to know what “special interests” Mr. Kincaid has in mind. Maybe it’s just talking points without any substance.

I’m sure he would have listed such special interests if he had knowledge of them. Or maybe he considers campaign donations from the Republican Party as “special interests.”

Let me detail what I see as a special interest. It’s when a county commissioner candidate gets a $1,000 donation from the Suquamish Indian Tribe, and this candidate does not have an R after her name.

I’ll gladly accept the brand of being one of Mr. Kincaid’s “radicals ... who regularly populate the editorial opinion pages” as long as I also have the freedom to state my opinion where and how I want.

I just don’t see how Mr. Kincaid made any points with the electorate with his letter. Which is fine by me.
