Missing woman with dementia found in Pierce County

A 75-year-old woman with “severe dementia” reported missing yesterday has been found in Pierce County, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
Spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said that Dorothy M. Brown, who had been missing since shortly before noon Oct. 20, was located and will be returned to her family. Wilson said he had little details as of yet regarding where and how she was found.
Brown drove away from her stepdaughter’s home on the 3500 block of Harper Hill Road in a silver and gray 2004 Honda CRV around 11:45 a.m. Oct. 21. Brown’s family reported that she is unfamiliar with the area, and had previously was living in Woodland, which is near Vancouver, Wash.
Wilson said that his office received calls reporting potential sightings of Brown, including one in Poulsbo and one in Lakebay.
Wilson said the Honda used to be Brown’s car, “so she is very familiar with it.
“It had a full tank of gas,” he said, explaining that in her younger days, Brown enjoyed taking long trips with her husband, and is not afraid of freeway driving.
