A specially-designed van belonging to a disabled South Kitsap veteran was stolen sometime overnight Monday, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson, the van is a “candy apple red,” 1999 Dodge Caravan that was parked in front of the 49-year-old man’ residence on the 3600 block of SW Huckleberry Road.
The sheriff’s office is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the van, which has a Washington State license plate number of 344-SDA and a "U. S. Army Retired" plate frame.
A side passenger window decal reads: "Do not park within 8 feet," and the van also has a luggage rack, handicap specialty vehicle ground effects kit installed, and a sliding side door wheelchair ramp kit installed.
Anyone seeing this vehicle on the road or who knows of its whereabouts, please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office at (360)337-7101.
