The Meadows at Sylvan under construction, homes open for tours

Bremerton's newest neighborhood is surrounded by trees, shrubs and peace and quiet.

"We're in the city limits of Bremerton, but you'd never know it," John L. Scott Realtor Stephen Shepard said.

The Meadows at Sylvan is currently under construction off Sylvan Way and the built-green neighborhood is already starting to attract prospective buyers.

"We just sold our first home in here. We just went under contract (Oct. 5)," Shepard said. "We're excited to have our first sale."

Big Sky Builders bought the 11-acre property in 2006. Cook Construction came onboard and construction began in June.

A few model homes were completed in August and are available for viewing and purchase.

"We're really truly still fresh," Shepard said.

The Meadows at Sylvan will include 22 single-family homes and 22 townhomes, with homes starting in the mid $200,000s.

There are six floor plans available, all named after famous mountains: Mt. Olympus, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Baker, Mt. Hood, Mt. Tahoma and Mt. Rainier.

"There's something to be said about having a name to a plan instead of a number," Shepard said. "You got to sex it up a little bit."

The first-time homebuyers who purchased a home at The Meadows at Sylvan went with the Mt. Tahoma floor plan and their home should be completed in four months.

"A buyer really has an opportunity to be involved from the ground up," Shepard said.

Homes have three or four bedrooms and have designer kitchens, baths and laundry rooms. High-efficiency appliances and stain-resisitant carpet will be used in the homes and sprinkler systems will be installed in each unit.

"These builders have really gone out of their way to make these houses feel custom in a sense," Shepard said.

The Meadows at Sylvan will have four acres of green, open space and Shepard said that'll never change.

"The natural backdrop of the neighborhood is going to remain," Shepard said. "We'll be quaint. This is going to be a very small, neighborly oriented community."

Eagle Home Mortgage will offer financing options for people looking to buy homes at The Meadows at Sylvan.

The Meadows at Sylvan is open 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information, contact Shepard at (360) 710-0000 or visit www.baldguynw.com.
