Hot Iron Bar & Grill opens on Callow Avenue in Bremerton

There’s a new Mongolian grill in town where folks can pick their own ingredients and watch the pros cook up their customized dishes.

The Mongolian grill is located in the former location of Ponderay Café at 610 N. Callow Ave. near the Sixth Street intersection with additional restaurant parking behind the building.
Owner Paul Chung has been in the restaurant business for 20 years and owned several places in the past, including teriyaki spots and other restaurants.
Chung’s brother, John, works at Hot Iron Bar & Grill and said he and his brother always knew they wanted to open a Mongolian grill in Bremerton.
“I like this town, so we decided to open up here,” John said.
He previously owned a retail business in Silverdale, so he said he is quite familiar with Kitsap County and knew Callow Avenue in Bremerton would be a good location for the restaurant.
John said it took about three months to open Hot Iron Bar & Grill. The Mongolian grill also boasts an Asian bistro. John added that Hot Iron Bar & Grill has a large selection of fresh foods, including meats, produce, noodles, rice and sauces, for customers to choose from and have cooked up by Paul and other Hot Iron Bar & Grill employees. The restaurant also will offer healthy, fresh burgers in the near future.
Hot Iron Bar & Grill has a large seating area as well as a full bar. John said the restaurant has live entertainment, including a DJ, on the weekends.
Hot Iron Bar & Grill may have only been open for business for a couple weeks, but John said business is steadily increasing and they are already seeing customers return to the Mongolian grill for second and third helpings of the Asian cuisine.
“Business is pretty good,” he said. “Everybody is happy with their food.”
