4-year-old who died tested positive for H1N1

Nov 13 2009

BREMERTON— A 4-year-old girl who died Nov. 9 tested positive for H1N1, but health officials aren’t sure if that was the cause of death.

Since Sept. 23, the Kitsap County Health District has reported 23 “local people” have been hospitalized with H1N1. Two people have died, including Hansville resident Charles Plummer, 59, who died Oct. 18 at Harrison Medical Center, and a “woman in her 40’s,” according to a press release sent out Friday evening by the health district.

"Our hearts go out to this child’s family," said Dr. Scott Lindquist, Director and Health Officer of the Kitsap County Health District. "This tragedy reminds us that influenza can be a very serious illness, especially in young children.”
