Chamber moves into EDS building

POULSBO — The Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce must have been on Santa’s good list because the organization opened shop in a new space Dec. 27.

Now, instead of being located on Jensen Way near the post office, the chamber has taken up quarters with Curves, the Eden Institute and others in the former EDS building in Poulsbo Village.

“We definitely have more visibility in the sense of traffic that flows through the Village,” said chamber executive director Stuart Leidner.

The group will also be more visible to traffic on State Route 305 once its sign is in place on the front of the building, Leidner said.

In addition to the increased visibility, the chamber bumped up its square footage by a couple hundred feet and now has a conference room, which it didn’t have at its Jensen Way location.

“It gives us more room to be able to have meetings and we can do some seminars as well,” Leidner said during a recent tour of the building.

One of the chamber board’s goals for the year is to set up new kiosks throughout the city to show where the chamber is and help direct visitors to its new location, he said.

“Right now, the important thing is to get the word out about our new building,” he said, noting that the City of Poulsbo’s public works department has already begun posting signs concerning the new location.

“We really appreciate their efforts in helping direct people to us,” Leidner said.

Once visitors find the new building, parking will no longer be an issue as there is an abundance of it in the Village area.

With the move completed and the chamber up and running, Leidner said the transition would not have been possible without the efforts of Hill Moving, which coordinated and executed the move before Christmas, and a host of volunteers, including several board members who stepped in and gave a helping hand.

“We’re happy to be here,” Leidner said.
