Poulsbo youngsters sell lemonade for charity.
POULSBO — Pals Bridget Eissler and Ava Neal are looking to earn some funding for charity today at the Poulsbo Farmers Market. Joining a nationwide, Crayons-sponsored drive, Bridget, 6, and Ava, 7, will be selling lemonade starting at 9 a.m. this morning. At $1 a can, the girls are donating all proceeds to the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance (KCAA).
“I thought it would be fun,” said Bridget on raising money for a cause. She and Ava were among the first 1,000 kids to respond to Crayons’ call, meaning the company sent them supplies for their lemonade sale.
The girls decorated their stand, which will offer 120 cans of all-natural lemonade.
After today’s fundraiser, the girls will present their earnings to the KCAA at their July meeting. Bridget’s mom, Annie Eissler, said the group works to maintain and promote the area’s rural community — something Bridget loves.
“She’s kind of a little entrepreneur,” Eissler said of her daughter, who’s been eyeing the idea of opening her own Farmers Market stand for some time.
The national movement has been tabbed the “Pink Lemonade Brigade.”
This is its inaugural year.
According to a Crayons release, the kid-empowering “Pink Lemonade Brigade” was sparked by 7-year-old Connor Lloyd, the son of Crayons CEO Ron Lloyd. The one-day event will unite kids across America and raise funds for an array of philanthropic causes.
Six-year-old Anya Anunson will also be doing her part today, selling Crayons-sponsored lemonade for North Kitsap Fishline.
Her stand will be set up in conjunction with a Liberty Bay Presbyterian Church car wash, which will earn money to benefit missions through the summer. Both start at 10 a.m. For more information, call (360) 779-7545.
