Election results show Angel, Bauer take early leads

In early election results, Jan Angel's bid to succeed retiring 26th District State Rep. Pat Lantz was the lone bright spot for local Republicans. With only Kitsap County votes tabulated, Angel led former Port Orchard Mayor Kim Abel by 10,089 votes to 9,783.

The 26th District includes Port Orchard, Gig Harbor and unincorporated Kitsap and Pierce county areas.

Angel is currently finishing her second term as South Kitsap commissioner.

In the 26th District's Position 2, incumbent Rep. Larry Seaquist seemed to be comfortably defending his seat against Republican challenger Marlyn Jensen.

Meanwhile, in the race to succeed Angel as South Kitsap commissioner, Democrat Charlotte Garrido held a narrow lead over Tim Matthes. Garrido previously served one term as commissioner, from 1996 to 2000.

She was defeated in the primary in 2000 and 2004.

North Kitsap interim commissioner Steve Bauer was winning his bid against challenger Sandra LacCelle to earn a full term after being appointed to fill the unexpired term of Chris Endresen.

Likewise, Democrat Walt Washington was well ahead of challenger John Clark in the race for Kitsap County auditor. Washington was appointed when longtime auditor Karen Flynn retired in mid-term.

Finally, Port Orchard resident Bruce Danielson's bid for a seat on the Superior Court was going down to defeat as Jeanette Dalton racked up more than 58 percent of the vote.

Totals will be updated by the Kitsap County Auditor's Office at 10:30 p.m.
