Hood Canal Drive closure continues

Hood Canal Drive, between Hood Canal Place and Ponderosa Drive, has intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes through October. The road will be closed through 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15.
This traffic safety improvement project consists of road widening to allow two 11-foot lanes and six-foot paved shoulders, horizontal and vertical curve corrections on the road, and a culvert replacement at Hawks Hole creek. Seton Construction is contracted to complete the work on this $991,422 project.

Hansville Planning Committee update
The Greater Hansville Area Planning Committee met July 15 and the following items were discussed: review of last meeting, communications update, vision statements for land use, economic development, parks and recreation, and environment. Additional Future’s Elements, to be added to the vision statements, were discussed. Also, a timeline for upcoming meetings and events was reviewed.
The August meeting is cancelled. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Greater Hansville Community Center, located in Buck Lake County Park. Everyone is welcome to attend. A call for community volunteers
The Kingston Revitalization Association is looking for community-minded volunteers.
Looking for something to fill your day? KRA is an organization that gets things done! It is a friendly group and charges no dues. Age is no limit, young or mature. All that’s needed is a willingness to socialize and accomplish deeds that give back to the community.
KRA meets at 7 p.m. the third Monday of every month at American Marine Bank in Kingston. All are invited.
KRA was formed in the summer of 1997 to revitalize downtown Kingston, and is a sub-committee of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. The association is comprised of local residents and business and property owners, working together to promote and maintain a healthy and prosperous downtown.
