Sponsors sought for West Kingston Road streetscape redevelopment
Nov 26 2008
Sponsorship opportunities are available for the continued redevelopment of planting strips along West Kingston Road to the Village Green.
The redevelopment is a project of the Kingston Stakeholders, a subcommittee of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. Last summer, a small portion was redeveloped and now the Stakeholders hope to grow the project this fall and winter, a good time for new plantings to get established in the ground and benefit from winter rains.
Ten-foot sections can be sponsored for $300. Sections will vary with material content and a rock will be placed in or near each sponsored section with the sponsor’s name.
The strips will be low maintenance, implemented with low-impact development practices that support community involvement and contribute to a cohesive, vibrant streetscape while serving as a good model for future development.
The design replaces existing trees with appropriate street trees, creating concentrated planting areas surrounded by bands of pervious concrete and cobblestone.
