Tourism seminar explores Kitsap's future

The Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau is sponsoring a unique event for businesses and organizations involved in any aspect of tourism and government officials who want to promote the Kitsap Peninsula as a destination. A seminar takes place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 at Kiana Lodge in Suquamish, and will feature Andy Dumaine leading a fast-paced, hands-on exploration of ways to maximize the economic, social and environmental benefits of tourism. Dumaine is the founder and chief creative officer of shrinkingfootprint and began his career in advertising as a writer and creative director at two of the world’s largest advertising firms, DDB and Ogilvy, before making the leap to agency owner in 1994. His work for clients such as National Geographic, The Washington Post, Puerto Rico and Intercontinental Hotels earned many awards.

Much of his marketing experience has been dedicated to supporting travel and tourism clients. Throughout his career, Dumaine provided marketing support to numerous change-making organizations including The Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights, The White House Commission on Volunteerism, Global Futures Project, The Lead Coalition and Doctors Without Borders. His shrinkingfootprint is a strategic marketing organization dedicated to creating more with less and working with clients to develop alternative tourism strategies that enhance visitor engagement while reducing pressure on people and place.
