Auburn's Myron Duarte back to defend Xtreme Bulls crown
Aug 26 2005
With Xtreme Bulls back in Kitsap for another go-round, its not surprising that a familiar face returns with the event.
Myron Duarte, the Auburn cowboy that took the Xtreme Bulls title in the events Kitsap debut last year, has returned to defend his title.
Hopefully it works out the same this year, Duarte said, also mentioning hes excited to get out there tomorrow.
Part of the reason for that excitement is to get a better run than he did Thursday in the Kitsap Fair & Stampede rodeo bull riding event at Thunderbird Stadium.
Duarte, riding Poison Ivy, was bucked after about four seconds, a fairly disappointing outing for the cowboy despite the fact his bull was among the most active on the floor Thursday.
I had a real good bull, he said. It did what it was supposed to and I didnt have a good day at all.
Many cowboys, and much of the stock, will crossover from the rodeo to compete in the Xtreme Bulls event. Duarte, ranked 44 in the Jack Daniels World Standings in bull riding, hopes to hold up against some of the other top competition, including No. 3 Bryan Richardson, No. 6 Wesley Silcox and No. 8 Steve Woolsey.
