Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1500 block of N.W. Fox Run in East Bremerton at 5 a.m. Nov. 23 after a car hit a retaining wall and the driver abandoned the vehicle.

Shortly after the collision, witnesses reported seeing a truck pull up and three males trying to get the driver, a 17-year-old girl, out of the vehicle.

The registered owner, the mother of the 17-year-old, returned to the scene with her daughter who had a swollen nose and chin and blood on her clothing and in her hair. The mother, 36, told deputies she was driving, but then reluctantly said it was indeed her daughter. Deputies could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the teen who admitted she drank malt liquor earlier that night and a shot of Barbosa. She was arrested and booked into juvenile detention for DUI, hit and run and first-degree no valid operator’s license. She was later released to her mother.

A vendor operating a snack booth at the Kitsap Fairgrounds and Events complex at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 22 turned around to catch an unknown man walking off with his cash box.

The 55-year-old vendor chased after the suspect who ran across the street, but tripped allowing the vendor to catch up to him. The suspect got up, threw the box of money toward the vendor and continued running with two fists full of dollars. The man continued after the suspect who fell two more times and after each time, he threw down more money. The vendor was able to get all of his cash back. The suspect, described as a dark-skinned male, possibly Hispanic, 18-22 years old, wearing a white jacket with two hammer emblems on the back and blue pants, was not located.
