Jason A. Blaine, 31, of Silverdale was found dead of stab wounds and his 18-year-old girlfriend, critically injured with stab wounds, at Blaine’s Wellington Apartments residence in Silverdale on Sunday morning, March 13.

Neighbors called to report a disturbance at 9:15 a.m. inside the apartment, and Sheriff’s deputies responded as if it were a domestic disturbance call, according to Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson.

But inside they discovered much more.

Deputies found Blaine dead on the kitchen floor next to his 18-year-old girlfriend, who was conscious, but critically injured, Wilson said.

“It was a pretty close call with this young lady,” he said.

The woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center where as of press time on Monday she was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit. At the scene, deputies detained a third individual, a male in his 20s, who was questioned at the scene and released. He was questioned again on Monday and again released and is not considered a suspect, Wilson said.

Detectives believe that the male was not a resident of the apartment and was visiting. As of press time, the investigation continues and is being called a suspicious death under violent circumstances.

The official cause of death of Blaine as ruled by the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office is internal and external bleeding caused by multiple stab wounds. A toxicology report on whether or not drugs were
