Elderly CK woman still missing

Vernita is still missing.
It has been nearly a week since anyone has seen Vernita Blanch Frazier, a 67-year-old black woman who apparently wandered away from her home near Cascade Street and Dickey Road in Silverdale on Tuesday morning, May 28.
The last time she was seen by anyone was Monday at about 11:30 p.m. at her home.
She was wearing a light blue or gray sweater and blue jeans at that time. Frazier suffers from dementia, said officials from the Sheriffs Office. She is five foot, seven inches tall, 150 pounds, with dark brown eyes and glasses. She was wearing salt & pepper hair extensions.
The Sheriffs Office Search & Rescue arrived on-scene about 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Northwest Bloodhounds, German Shepherd Search Dogs, Washington Explorer Search & Rescue, local Marines and deputies joined the search earlier this week.
Sgt. Earl Smith of the Sheriffs Office, on-site at search headquarters in the Central Kitsap schools Maintenance Building on Dickey, said they have received no sightings and have no leads.
Weve been using her home as a starting point and are looking within a one-mile radius, he said.
As the search continued, the radius was expanded.
The immediate areas around Fraziers home contain many empty fields with tall grass, as well as forest.
Smith said it was frustrating. Its like a needle in a haystack.
On Wednesday, 145 Marines from the Marine Corps Security Force at Bangor joined the search.
Detective Clinton Bergeron of the Sheriffs Office commented yesterday, Friday, May 31, that Frazier has been placed on the national computer list of missing persons.
At this point the search has been scaled back but was still ongoing as of press time, Friday.
Bergeron said You can only go so far out.... There are so many things out there. Were checking every avenue we can. Weve sent out more people on this search than any search I can remember.
It is unknown if Frazier left on her on volition, said officials. Search dogs have checked the one-mile radius and picked up nothing. All neighboring police agencies, including Seattle PD, have been notified.
About 1,000 flyers have been distributed with Fraziers face and vital stats. Anyone with information or who have seen Frazier, should call 911.
