"Nonegenarian murder victim Ruth Davison might be gone, but she's far from forgotten by her family and the detectives of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department.Davison, a well-known member of the Illahee community, was beaten and strangled June 16 in her home in a trailer park on Illahee Road.Although detectives have evidence, they have no suspects yet, despite a $13,000 reward offer for information leading to a conviction, said Lt. Jim Harris of the detective bureau.We had no response to the reward offer, said Harris. And that's odd, because usually in some cases we do get some response, even flaky people call in, he said.We're not going to stop looking. We have some evidence. If we find the right person we'll be able to deal with them. But for now we can only dot our i's and cross our t's, Harris said.Davison was killed some time between 11 p.m. June 15 and 10 a.m. June 16, said Det. Doug Dillard, who is handling the investigation.One of the oddities in the case was Davison's car, which police believe might have been taken by the killer.They found the car on Rue Villa Road about 100 feet from the entrance to the trailer park.We don't know if someone was in it, or just let it go down the road to where it stopped, Dillard said.The car was the tipoff that something had happened to Davison. It was found halfway down a 40-foot embankment with the motor still running.After several attempts to contact her, deputies were considering calling for a search and rescue team to look for her in the area around where the car was found.But first they called Davison's son, who lives in Bremerton, to unlock her dwelling, a pink mobile home. They found her dead in the bathroom, Dillard said.There was no forced entry, and Davison normally kept her door locked, according to deputies.Dillard said the house had been ransacked as if someone had been looking for something, most likely money.He said Davison had been beaten on the head and the chest before being strangled. The beating was a contributing factor to her death, he added.We've got some ideas about what was used, but we're not releasing that. It appears that robbery was the motive, at this point, Dillard said.Davison was well known in the area, where she used to feed the ducks every day at Lions Field. She also had a garden at the community pea patch in Bremerton.We're hoping somebody has some knowledge about something. Normally someone who doesn't think they have a good lead will realize they might have something, and call and let us figure it out, Dillard added.Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Harris or Dillard at 337-7101.
