Kitsap Credit Union donates $34,000 to United Way

May 03 2008

Kitsap Credit Union’s Board of Directors, management and staff contributed to the credit union’s recent $34,000 donation to the United Way of Kitsap County.

Approximately two-thirds of the donation was contributed by KCU’s 300 employees through the payroll deduction program. The United Way payroll deduction program is one of the largest fund-raisers for the agency, helping maintain 36 Kitsap County partner agencies that support children, health and wellness, elderly and the differently abled.

KCU employees have a history of coming up with creative ways to raise money for United Way’s Annual Giving Campaign including volunteering their time and skills with United Way’s Day of Caring event as well as hosting special events such as employees selling cookbooks or purchasing a yard of duct tape and collectively duct taping their CEO Elliot Gregg to the wall.

United Way Executive Director David Foote and Board Member Barry Loonam accepted the donation from KCU at March’s board meeting. Gregg presented the donation of $34,000 on behalf of its 300 employees.
