No-wake zone enforced during Silverdale Thunder

Aug 05 2008

Hydroplane racing returns to Silverdale this weekend, Aug. 8, 9 and 10 with Silverdale Thunder.

A no-wake zone protects the entire north end of Dyes Inlet, and access to the Silverdale boat launch and pier will be restricted.

The Silverdale pier will be closed for tie-ups from noon Friday, Aug. 8 through the evening hours of Sunday, Aug. 10. The Silverdale boat launch parking lot, ramp and dock will be closed from noon Friday through the weekend.

Throughout the entire weekend, The Silverdale pier will be heavily congested with moored patrol and support and Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association member boats.

Boaters may anchor anywhere 500 feet east of the buoy line marking the east edge of the race course and south of a line 500 feet south of the outer buoys of the south turn — no log boom and no fees.

Boaters should be aware that access to areas west and north of these lines will be closed during the hours of hydro racing (9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday) and boats anchored or present within this area will be required to relocate to spots beyond the indicated distance from the course.
