New prize added to Name the Road Contest

The Waaga Way Extension Road, which will be completed later this year, needs a name.

It is the first new road in Central Kitsap in many years. To celebrate the new road, the Central Kitsap Community Council and the Central Kitsap Reporter are sponsoring a contest to name the road. The person with the winning entry will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Yacht Club Broiler in Old Town Silverdale. This week, a second prize was added: a $50 gift card to Best Buy.

To participate, fill out an online entry form at either www.centralkitsapreporter.com or www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/ckcc. Entry forms and drop-off boxes also are available at the Central Kitsap Reporter office, located at 3888 NW Randall Way, Suite 100, Silverdale or at the Kitsap Regional Library, Silverdale Branch, 3450 NW Carlton St.

Entry forms also can be downloaded off the sites and mailed to Central Kitsap Community Council Road Contest, Attn: Dana Daniels, 614 Division Street, MS-4, Port Orchard, WA 98366-4676.

Only Kitsap County residents are eligible. Entries must be received by 5 p.m., Friday, May 15. All entries become the property of Kitsap County. The top three entries will be selected by the contest judges — Central Kitsap Community Council member Natalie Bryson, Central Kitsap citizen-at-large Carl Johnson and CK Reporter Editor Kassie Korich.

The winning entry will be determined by the Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners. The decision will be final.
