Another fee increase seems way out of line | Letters | Nov. 6

I am a customer of Sewer District No. 7, which serves Point White. I have been told a large increase in sewer charges is being planned for us in 2010 with other increases in following years. I don’t understand this.
We have lived in the same house on the same ground for 35 years and have seen all our taxes and charges gradually increase year by year.
When we started sewer service in 2006, our first bill was $53.18. That seemed awfully high.
Friends and family off the island were paying between $30 and $40 a month for their sewer service. Now we are paying $64.34 a month. No one I know pays that much.
But this latest increase seems completely out of line – $83 a month? It can’t possibly cost that much to treat our sewage and send us a bill.
I think the city is trying to fund other projects with our utility money and needs to rethink this increase.
