Find the red envelope and put something in it | Letters | Nov. 6
Nov 06 2009
I’m writing with a thought about the One Call for All red envelopes that have come in our mailboxes and may be buried on our desks.
That’s where I recently found mine, and I felt fortunate to be able to make a contribution this year.
In difficult times, when so many organizations seek support, it is easy to turn a deaf ear to all requests.
As I looked at the long list of worthy organizations that benefit from One Call for All, I was struck by the fact that my contribution probably would not go very far.
Thinking that, it would have been easy to set the red envelope aside without writing a check.
And then I had another thought: What if the goal this year would be to have every family on Bainbridge Island participate? 100 percent participation, no contribution too small. Many checks for $5 or $10 add up.
I invite all our island neighbors to find their red envelopes. Give what feels comfortable and participate
