Police nab suspects connected to Bainbridge robberies, car prowls

Police have arrested two individuals thought to be behind a string of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap burglaries and car prowls.

William Black and Jeffrey Oreiro were arrested this week in connection to the robberies. Two other individuals have been arrested as well - at the time of publishing they have yet to be formally charged.

The latest robbery police have linked to Black and Oreiro is a Nov. 6, Falk Road burglary in which perpetrators stole over $10,000 worth of personal property and home electronics. In that incident entry was gained through the home's rear-door. Suspects fled through the front door after being interrupted mid-burglary.

The arrests, made by the Kitsap Sheriff's Department and the Bremerton Police, were the culmination of efforts by both departments plus the Bainbridge and Suquamish departments.

"My guys worked hard on this case," said Bainbridge police Lt. Sue Shultz. "It's been a long week but it ended in a successful catch."

Shultz indicated that those arrested have a long list of previous offenses.

"They are involved in a plethora of crimes in Kitsap County, they were on a crime spree," Shultz said.

Police have linked Black and Oreiro to seven North Kitsap burglaries. The exact amount of Bainbridge break-ins and car prowls, apart from the Falk Road incident, the two are being linked to is still under investigation, however police have recovered a great deal of evidence and stolen goods.

"Our department has recovered over 40 pieces of property from a suspects vehicle," Shultz said. "If anyone has been a victim of a burglary or car prowl in the last couple months they should contact our department."
