Bainbridge Police arrested an 18-year-old Bainbridge High School senior Friday morning, in connection with the Wednesday vandalism of police vehicles at the Winslow Way station, according to a police press release.
The release said the man has been booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of felony malicious mischief, and that "other arrests can be expected" in the ongoing investigation.
Sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday vandals dumped and sprayed paint on eight Bainbridge Police vehicles parked at the station. Tires were also slashed on several of the vehicles.
Dozens of graffiti tags have appeared on intersections and signs around the island in the last two weeks, in the lead up to BHS graduation Saturday.
The class of 2008 will host a car wash 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Chevron station on High School Road, with all proceeds benefiting the Bainbridge Police Department.
The police release today said, "The men and women of the Bainbridge Island Police Department are very grateful for the many gestures and messages of support from members of the Bainbridge Island High School Class of 2008, and other community members."
