WEEKEND WROCK | Lick Like a Lion to headline Kingston SK8 Rollick

SATURDAY

KINGSTON SK8 ROLLICK w/ local skaters and music from Lick Like a Lion, Triple Forte, Neutralboy, All of the Olives, Abadawn and more starting at noon July 5 at the Kingston Skate Park, WHAT STREET in Kingston. All ages, $5 entry into the skate comp, free attendance.

On the heels of what’s arguably Kingston’s grandest day of the year, comes something new.

Just up the street from the Little City by the Sea’s downtown core and Fourth of July events, the Independence Day celebration will be extended with a Saturday full of skate competition and concerts. From the group that basically brought you the Kingston Skate Park itself comes The Kingston Sk8 Rollick.

For those of you scratching your head: “rol·lick – verb (used without object) — To move or act in a carefree, frolicsome manner; behave in a free or jovial way.”

Or in other words — friggin’ party.

Kingston definitely knows how to party.

Five Kingston dudes, who eight years ago mobilized efforts to raise money for and build the park in 2000, are back to judge the SK8 Rollick competition starting at noon. Prizes have been donated by the Northern Wave board shop, Snowboard Connection and the Kitsap Sports Board Shop.

Following the comp, at about 3 p.m., the party rolls on with a massive range of alternative music, local and abroad. Featuring hip hop from Seattle MC Abadawn, crazy electro-downbeatness from Kingston’s All of the Olives, punk rock from Bremerton’s Neutralboy and Triple Forte and closing it all down, the mind-expanding, seven-piece madness that is Lick Like a Lion.
