Funds up for climbing wall
Apr 21 2009
The North Bend Parks Foundation has donated $10,000 to the city for the Torguson Park Climbing Wall. The money was raised from local businesses and citizens.
“We’re hoping this is the first of many checks we’ll have for the climbing wall,” said Ryan Kolodejchuk, one of the foundation’s directors.
Assisting with the wall is the recently-formed foundation’s first major project. The climbing wall is expected to cost over $150,000.
The wall is North Bend’s “legacy project” of its centennial year, and a cornerstone of the city’s strategy to improve its reputation as a destination for outdoor recreation.
“There’s going to be trails and parks and lots of upgrades,” and the foundation wants to support the work, he said.
The group, which was founded last year, is looking for members, donors and a grant writer.
