Hour of darkness planned in Snoqualmie

By SETH TRUSCOTT

Mar 23 2009

Snoqualmie is among 1,500 cities worldwide that have pledged to turn out their lights for one hour, starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28.

Valley residents and business owners may participate by switching off their lights for "Earth Hour."

Non-essential services in the city will go dark, but police, fire, water and other vital departments will stay powered.

The event is a global statement of concern about climate change and environmental commitment.

Groups including teachers' associations, Boy Scout groups, the World Wildlife Fund and the United Nations Secretary-General have supported the hour of darkness.
