Readers win Bikes for Books
Apr 28 2009
The Unity Masonic Lodge has awarded two bicycles each to four Valley Elementary Schools, as part of its “Bikes for Books” program.
North Bend, Opstad, Snoqualmie and Cascade View Elementary Schools receive a mountain bike and helmet for a boy and a girl.
Last week, bike winners were named at Snoqualmie Elementary School. The school lunch room erupted in applause when the winners, Gideon Gray and Rachel Hunter, were announced and given their bikes.
The Masons buy bikes at cost from program co-sponsor Singletrack Cycles in North Bend.
Singletrack will adjust the bike and helmet for a fit for each rider.
Unity Masonic Lodge members hold the Bikes for Books program to help increase reading efforts by students. Masons raise funds for the program through a raffle; tickets can be purchased at Singletrack Cycles.
