Follett flying high: Redmond teen reunited with cheer 'family'

Jun 12 2009

Jessie Follett, the Redmond High School sophomore who made a miraculous recovery after a serious car accident in March, was reunited for the first time with her cheer "family" on Thursday evening.

Friends and teammates from the former Galaxy Cheer gym, which recently closed after nine years, showered Follett with hugs and kisses, said Ronda Thomas, who is now co-director of the Northwest Cheer and Dance Academy in Gig Harbor.

Follett's determination to resume her favorite activities quickly became apparent as she joined her friends in stretching exercises, did splits and leg raises and then participated in several stunts, including full-ups to the top.

"If this doesn't show limitless potential, I don't know what will," said Thomas. "Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers — obviously, they are working."
