Summer's not over yet: City of Redmond and Redmond Town Center offer free outdoor entertainment throughout August

Summer days are dwindling but there's still time to savor outdoor entertainment — free of charge — right here in Redmond.

The City of Redmond and Redmond Town Center invite you to free concerts, movies and live theatre performances throughout August as follows:

• Noon Tuesday, Aug. 11 — The City of Redmond's Arts in the Park presents interactive storytelling and music for the whole family on the Green Space at Redmond City Hall, 15670 NE 85th St.

• 6-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12 — Winners of the Old Fire House Teen Center's Classic Rockathon will perform in the Center Plaza at Redmond Town Center, 7525 166th Ave. NE. The Town Center will also feature a Bike Share Expo that evening.

New at Redmond Town Center's Summer Concert series this year is a beer and wine garden (for guests 21 and over) to raise funds for Kiwanis of Redmond. You can also partake of chairside dining, courtesy of participating RTC restaurants.

• 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 — It's Teen Performance Night at the Redmond City Hall Green Space. The theme is "Redmond's Got Talent" and the Old Fire House Teen Center will present spoken word and mini-drama performances as well as music by local teens.

• Following the teen performances on Friday, Aug. 14 is a showing of the movie "Kung Fu Panda" at the Redmond City Hall Green Space, sponsored by RYPAC (Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee).

• Noon Tuesday, Aug. 18 — Check out the "Junk Chime," a giant percussion instrument made of recycled material at the Redmond City Hall Green Space.

• 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 — The summer concert at Redmond Town Center features Northwest blues legends Little Bill and the Blue Notes.

• 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 — Unexpected Theater is the Arts in the Park offering on the Green Space at Redmond City Hall. Bring requests for an impromptu tribute to pop culture.

• Noon Tuesday, Aug. 25 — Redwood Theatre presents the family-friendly show "Dandelions and Daydreams" at the Redmond City Hall Green Space.

• At dusk Saturday, Aug. 29, the City of Redmond's final outdoor movie of the summer will be "Tron," shown at Idylwood Park Beach, 3650 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy.
