SecondStory Repertory presents ‘Private Lives’

Aug 27 2008

SecondStory Repertory, the professional theatre ensemble at Redmond Town Center, presents the spicy and sophisticated “Private Lives” by Noel Coward, Sept. 5-27.

This production is made possible through the contributions of 4Culture, Redmond Arts Commission and KUOW.

This is the first show that Susanna Wilson has staged for SecondStory since becoming the theater’s artistic director. Wilson has been instrumental in bringing more than three dozen works to the stage for companies such as Annex, Book-It Repertory (where she has been a company member since 1993), Seattle Public Theatre (Footlight Award, Travesties), ArtsWest, Wooden O and Greenstage.

Prior to being appointed artistic director, Wilson directed SecondStory Rep’s “Born Yesterday,” “Anything Goes,” “My Fair Lady,” “Pirates of Penzance” and “Proof.”

The cast of “Private Lives” features Brandon Simmons, April Wolfe, Jill Snyder, Isaiah Crowson and Megan Pankow.

Scenic design is by Dan Schuy, with lighting design by Amanda Nitzche and Sarah Hughes, sound design by Danny Miller, costume design by Pete Rush and stage management by Tellier Killaby.

In this classic British comedy by the author of “Blithe Spirit,” a divorced couple — both recently remarried — accidentally book adjoining suites at the same hotel for their honeymoons. Of course, they still care for each other — but they’ve got a lot of wicked banter to unleash first.

Opening night for “Private Lives” is Friday, Sept. 5 at 8:15 p.m. The opening night will feature a reception and string duet in the theatre lobby.

The night before is a “Pay What You Can” preview; otherwise, performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. with one Sunday matinee, Sept. 21 at 2:15 p.m.

Tickets are $25 general admission; $19 for students, seniors and educators with ID.

For tickets and information, call the SecondStory Repertory box office at (425) 881-6777 or visit www.SecondStoryRep.org.
